Hello again, now time to talk some sh*t!
Believe it or not talking about this tabboo can be quiet positive, we felt it important to discuss poo and what you can do about it! It is world toilet day and being completely inspired by Jack Sims talk at a recent TEDx event in Salford we found about the importance of talking about sh*t!
As part of the Big Squat today on the 19th November we decided to contribute to raising awareness with a little paint to create the piece ‘Bog standard day’.
Of the world’s seven billion people, 2.5 billion people do not have improved sanitation. 1 billion people still defecate in the open. Women and girls risk rape and abuse because they have no toilet that offers privacy.
We cannot accept this situation. Sanitation is a global development priority. This is why the United Nations General Assembly in 2013 designated 19 November as World Toilet Day.
Equality and dignity is the theme of World Toilet Day 2014. The campaign will inspire action to end open defecation and put spotlight on how access to improved sanitation leads to a reduction in assault and violence on women and girls.
The team at Make-U-Believe seem to have always been quite passionate about toilets, with our in house photographer Jonathan Macauley and his ever popular ‘Toilet fairy’ being a fond favourite amongst many of his toilet based capturings!
Photography by Jonathan Macauley (who’s birthday is also today, World Toilet Day – he really is loopy about loo’s it seems!)
We hope you enjoy this loo related activity and join in with the cause in what ever way you can to raise awareness.
Let’s get sanitation on the subject and start talking some sh*t!
